Trees....but from where?

Colorful, unique, and animated.....these trees painted by my Art 1 students show the personality of each artist.  Movement is represented by brush strokes and mood is shown by the colors selected by the student. Fun, fantasy inspired, and freely painted are the perfect adjectives for these pieces!

Clay...from Coil to Slab

Learning the basics of clay building is easy but creating unique art pieces with that knowledge takes imagination and innovation.  My Art 1 students mastered this task with these creative, artistic expressions.

MONOCHROMATIC SELF PORTRAITS

What face do you know better than anyone else's face? Your very own face!!!! Using a grid, the artists in Art 1 enlarged a photo of themselves onto a 16 X 20 inch canvas.  They then chose their favorite color and created a monochromatic painting of themselves!  I loved the expression that was shown in each of these artworks!  The artists' personalities came through!

The Works of Famous Artists

So how hard is it to create a masterpiece?  Hmmm...Students in Art 1 selected one of their favorite artist's work and recreated the piece...in miniature! Working through the problems the original artist may have encounted, the students had a new appreciation of just how difficult it was to paint these pieces. Take a look!
